Kitten sneezing, yellow discharge after move. Is it stress-related?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 3 months and 23 days old | 2 lbs

My kitten got a URI on 13th Aug, after which her antibiotics started until 23rd. She seemed fine for 3 days and now we moved to a new place and she has started to sneeze again, mucous sometimes, she's sniffing too. Her nose is wet after the sneeze, checked with a tissue. Her eyes sometimes have yellow discharge. I checked her rectal temperature 99.4. she's eating fine and pooping too. I'm worried if the URI is still there. Is it recommended to give herbal medicine for URI?

Stress can sometimes trigger chronic URI symptoms in cats, as the virus tends to remain dormant until stress or another illness triggers it. If she doesn't have a fever, the discharge is clear, and she's still eating and drinking, continuing supportive care such as providing plenty of food and water and removing any discharge with a wet washcloth should be fine. If she does have a fever, stops eating or drinking, the discharge changes color, or she seems wheezy or raspy, bringing her back in for additional treatment is best.
