Dog reverse sneezing suddenly frequent, chest expanding. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Female | spayed | 8 years and 5 months old | 17 lbs

Dog sounds like she is reverse sneezing but as of yesterday it has been happening frequently sometimes every few minutes and then it stops a little and happiness again through the day. She used to do it only occasionally here and there. Right now her stomach/chest also expands while doing it. I'm concerned because it's happening so frequently all of a sudden.

Thank you for posting this question about Stella. An increase in reverse sneezing can indicate allergies, exposure to kennel cough, nasal mite infection, nasal foreign object, and even very rarely a nasal tumor. I would encourage you to consider having her evaluated by your veterinarian soon. Please video her “events” so your veterinarian can witness what she is doing. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
