Why does my cat have a bald spot on its ear, but nothing else?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 9 lbs

A bald spot has appeared on the base of Jumi’s ear. I don’t see any lesions on it, just his skin. I haven’t seen any bald spots on any other body part. His ears are clean as well. Nothing has changed on his diet and he is on Frontline flea meds. He was neutered last week, but I don’t think that has anything to do with it. What could this be?

It could be Jumi just injured himself leading the bald spot, but it doesn't appear red, swollen, or any other signs of infection. Just keep an eye on it for now, and if it gets bigger, the fur doesn't grow back, it starts to appear infected, and/or it starts to bother him, I would have him checked out by a vet. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
