Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | unspayed | 12 years and 10 months old | 6 lbs
Good afternoon. My 13 year old Chihuahua has gone completely blind. She is not struggling as a result and does not have too much trouble getting around, however, I would like to know what is the best way for me to care for her and if I should consider medical intervention. Thank you!

Whether or not there is any kind of medical therapy depends on why she has gone blind. Cataracts are easily removed via surgery and do a lot toward helping her see again. If you haven't already, I suggest getting her seen by your vet, just to make sure there isn't something to be done to improve her quality of life. If not, and she is getting around well, I suggest just keeping a watchful eye on her, since she can get herself into trouble with steps or anything big enough for her to fall into. If you have a pool or stairs, make sure she isn't able to fall, don't rearrange furniture, make sure to keep traffic areas clear.
