Is it normal for my 3-month-old puppy's leg to shake when sitting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 months and 6 days old

Our 3 month old shepherd/husky mix puppy’s leg shakes sometimes (mainly when she’s sitting). Is this just normal growing pains?

This may not be related to anything, and can be incidental. The shaking could also be a sign of pain. Large breed dogs are prone to elbow disorders and bone disorders (like panosteitis), which could potentially causing the shaking. Without seeing Lucy in person, I can't say for certain, but as long as she isn't limping or showing other signs of pain, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I would suggest a check up at 12 months of age to assess if there is any sign of dysplasia on elbows. Do take her into the vet though if she starts limping. I hope this helps!
