My dog keeps biting his groin area and has skin spots. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chow Chow | Male | neutered | 10 months and 18 days old | 60 lbs

My dog has been biting at his groin area over the last week. He has these spots on him and I am not sure what they are. My vet does not open until tomorrow but I want an idea of what this could be.

It looks like he has a skin infection so he needs to be examined and treated by a veterinarian. Your vet can prescribe an antibiotic to help treat. You could try an OTC spray, like Vetericyn spray and see if that helps until he can be seen by a vet.
