My diabetic cat lost weight after missing insulin. What's wrong?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 8 lbs

My cat was weighting at around 16 pounds for years it ended up with diabetes been giving it shota then ran out of needles he didnt get his insulin for a week lost have of his weight. Now im trying to get him better but its not working, he's still eating and drinking but nothing like he used to what can i do

It may be that he's developed a complication from the diabetes called "diabetic ketoacidosis." This can become a very severe life threatening problem if not treated. Or, he may be having some pancreatitis that's causing him to have a decreased appetite, or an issue in his GI tract such as gastroenteritis, or inflammatory bowel disease. Get him in to see your vet as soon as you can. His blood work needs to be checked to assess where his blood sugar is at, as well as to check his liver enzymes, kidney values, and electrolytes.
