Why is my bunny not eating, lethargic, and burying his head?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Rabbit | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 3 months old | 6 lbs

My bunny hasn’t been eating much all of a sudden. He has also been unresponsive while he’s usually attentive and super active. He sometimes even buries his head in the bedding.

Whatever is the cause of it, these signs are quite severe in rabbits and should be a reason for an immediate check up. Inappetence can always lead to acute deterioration of clinical condition especially if gastrointestinal motion is slower than normal and feces are not produced. The fact that there is lethargy is even more dangerous and pain could be present as well.
