My kitten's distemper shot was delayed. Is her vaccine series valid?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 months and 6 days old | 5 lbs

My kitten was due for her last distemper shot on July 17 but I got the distemper and rabies shots today and the mobile vet service is trying to tell me that she needs the distemper series all over again but I called a vet and they said she should be fine. Can you tell me the truth?

The current recommendations for the feline distemper series should start around 8 weeks of age (sometimes earlier) and be boostered every 3-4 weeks until about 16 weeks of age. As long as your kitten has had at least 2 vaccinations at least 3 weeks apart and the last one being at 16 weeks or older then that would be considered adequately vaccinated. I hope this helps!
