Why does my cat keep throwing up food and liquid, not hairballs?

My cat throws up. Not hair ball just will vomit every few weeks some cat food and liquid. He has always done this. Changed food 8 months ago to sensitive stomach formula by blue buffalo. ?? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 17 years and 6 months old | 8 lbs

Some cats will vomit occasionally and it is not a sign of an underlying problem, however Oz is a senior kitty and vomiting can be a sign of thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel disease or kidney disease. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for an exam. They may recommend blood work or other tests as a first step to determining what might be causing the vomiting, particularly if he also seems to be losing weight.
