Why does my cat keep throwing up food and liquid, not hairballs?

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 17 years and 6 months old | 8 lbs

My cat throws up. Not hair ball just will vomit every few weeks some cat food and liquid. He has always done this. Changed food 8 months ago to sensitive stomach formula by blue buffalo. ??

Some cats will vomit occasionally and it is not a sign of an underlying problem, however Oz is a senior kitty and vomiting can be a sign of thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel disease or kidney disease. I would recommend seeing your veterinarian for an exam. They may recommend blood work or other tests as a first step to determining what might be causing the vomiting, particularly if he also seems to be losing weight.
