Why does my cat have scabs and bumps on her back, face, and ears?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 13 lbs

My 11yo spayed cat had a crazy fungal infection in her sinuses which vet originally thought was cancer! Thank God it wasn’t and we were able to get it all cleared up. So now, she has all these little bumps and scabs all over JUST her back under her fur, as well as on her face, especially around her eyes. The backs of her ears were covered with the scabs and sores and she lost ALL hair- ONLY on earbacks. I changed food and ear hair has almost completely regrown, but she still has all the scabs??

It is possible she has a secondary skin infection that may require antibiotics to treat. I would recommend bringing her in for your vet to examine the area and prescribe medication based on their findings.
