My puppy got dewormed. How do I know if the worms are completely gone?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 15 days old | 7 lbs

I have dewormed my little pup 2x and I would just like know what are some signs that they are gone?

It is very likely that after worming your puppy twice (second time about 2-3 weeks after the first time) it has no more worms for a while. THe only way to know for sure is to take a fresh stool sample to your vet for a fecal exam.

    It may take a few days for all the killed worms to be pooped out. In the meantime, be diligent about environmental clean up as recontamination is a risk (walking in poop and licking the paws). In addition, intestinal worms are zoonotic (meaning people can get them) so diligent hand washing after petting/handling is recommended. Many dogs will require two de-wormings 2 weeks apart to fully clear a worm infestation. I recommend submitting a fecal sample at your veterinarian’s in 2 weeks to confirm that the worms have been cleared. Best of luck!
