Cat sensitive to Advantage II flea treatment? What are alternatives?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 1 year and 4 months old | 12 lbs

Hi, my cat Han Solo gets very distress when we put advantage ll on him. Too much, he acts like it burn him and is super scared and sensitive but he doesn't get a red mark or anything after putting the medicine on him. What do you suggest I do? It this normal or should I try frontline plus? Many people complain that frontline plus doesn't work as well as advantage 'll so I'm not comfortable changing it unless it's last resort.

Poor kitty! It does sound like the Advantage may be causing some skin irritation when it's applied, so I agree that it would be a good idea to try something different next month to see if he tolerates this better. It's true that Frontline does not work well in my experience, so I would recommend trying Revolution or Bravecto instead - you can get these from your veterinarian, and both are very safe and effective.
