What’s wrong with my little boys mouth and what’s the mark on his nose and is any treatment needed? He’s eating and drinking perfectly fine

Oh poor Georgie! He may have injured himself somewhere on the cage - I would advise taking a close look at the entire cage to make sure there aren’t any sharp edges. With the changes you are seeing around the mouth, he may also have a tooth problem that could be the source of both problems. We typically see animals with tooth problems have a decreased appetite, and with hamsters sometimes this is difficult to determine because they hide their food in their enclosures frequently. They often can seem to be eating normally, even when they aren’t, due to this. I would advise taking Georgie to a vet for evaluation. They can make sure that the jaw feels stable and that the teeth are normal. They may also prescribe treatments to prevent infection and address any pain that he may have with the wound. Please do not give Georgie any human medications, as they can be harmful to him. I hope he feels better soon!
