Pet's info: Cat | Korat | Male | neutered | 13 years and 5 months old | 9.6 lbs
Hi! I was told by my vet to increase my cat's dosage of prednisolone from 2.5mg every other day to 5mg every day for a few days to see if his chronic diarrhea would subside. It's been 3 days and my cat hasn't had any bowel movements except for one very small stool. What could that indicate? Does it mean it's working or is my cat constipated? Should I lower to his normal dosage of 2mg every other day now? He is eating and acting normally. Thank you.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! If Beau is eating, not straining to defecate, and not vomiting I would assume the increased dosage is working. I wouldn't decrease the dose with out speaking to your Vet specifically. Being on the higher dose for just 3 days may not be enough time to get him to a better place before decreasing. If he isn't eating well, is straining to poop and is vomiting he could be constipated and he should be seen. Good luck!
