My dog has Prednisone side effects. How to safely wean him off?

If my dog has been on Prednisone for 3 weeks and is getting bad side effects,how quick can I wean off and use alternative methods.

The dose should be reduced gradually over the course of the following two weeks. If you give it once daily, start reducing it from full dose to half of it for 4-5 days and then progressively to half dose every other day for following 10 days and then stop it.
