My puppy isn't eating and is throwing up. Is it worms or dewormer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Mastiff | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 8 days old | 10 lbs

My puppy hasn't eaten anything in 2 days he drinks water but throws it back up.. he has a bad case of roundworms and the vet perscribed him dewormer for 5 days. And from what the vet said he would probably be sick to his stomach for a few days.. but earlier this week my wife brought him to the beach and he was exposed to heat and salt water and I already know that your not supposed to have a 10 week old puppy on the beach bc he is way to young but I didn't know she was taking him!Help me please!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Romeman! If he hasn't eaten in 2 days and is vomiting he needs to see a Vet today. He is too young to be sick for long. Possible causes are the worms or the dewormer, but other causes are: bacterial or viral (especially parvo if not vaccinated), dietary indiscretion, blockage from a foreign body, reaction to a new food/treat/table food or an allergy to his current food. Dehydration and hypogylcemia (low blood sugar) is a huge risk with not eating in vomiting in a dog so young. I wish you all the best!
