My dog still has fleas. Can I use Advantix and a flea collar?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 3 years and 8 months old | 4 lbs

I use advatix II for a flea meds for both of my dogs. It seems to work for one dog to keep fleas off but my other dog mindy it seems to do nothing. Now i was wondering if its safe to use advatix and a flea collar at the same time to keep the fleas off? Thank you.

Yes, it's safe to use the Advantix flea collar, or other flea collars with the spot-on treatment. Keep in mind that controlling fleas on the dog is just half the battle. You will also need to try and kill the fleas in the environment to help keep them from getting reinfested. Below is a link to a good article that explains how to best get rid of fleas. https://www.petcoach.co/article/5-tips-to-get-rid-of-fleas I hope that helps and all goes well with the flea control.
