Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. Watery eyes could be due to allergies or irritation. If there is green / yellow discharge, this could be infectious. Some dog breeds have a predisposition for excessive tearing and this may be a genetically inherited trait. If the eyes do not look irritated then this is likely just to be excessive tearing, which in some cases, resolves on its own. If you want to rule out allergies or infection, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Jack so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and I would be more than happy to help you further.

Hello. Watery eyes are an important sign of pain & inflammation. This can result from mechanical trauma, eyelashes rubbing on the cornea, or a scratch on the cornea. Ocular discharge can also result from allergies, the presence of any type of foreign material in the eye, infections or inflammation of the ocular structures surrounding the globe. So the only way to determine how serious this is is to have jack examined by a veterinarian as soon as possible. He may need antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications, but the longer you delay having him seen, the higher the possibility of Jack having more problems with his eyes. I hope You can have him seen soon. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
