My dog is seizing. What to do at home if vets are far or closed?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 5 years and 5 months old | 37 lbs

Lika has had multiple seizures in the past few hours. It's sunday so the vets are closed and the closest vet is 4 hours away. Is there anything I can do at home to help my dog? Thanks

The only thing you can do without having a vet with the proper medications around is to put her in a dark and quite room, this can help with some types of seizures. if i were you, i would drive the 4 hours and take her to the vet as she might not survive until tomorrow if she keeps having seizures very frequently.
