My 8-month-old puppy is thin. How to make him eat dog food, not human?

Hello, I was wondering how to get my little puppy to eat he's dog food instead of human food he's eight months to about a year please help he's getting very thin I would appreciate your help thank you.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The first thing I would say is, visit your vet to make sure Jr is actually thin. 8lbs is pretty good size for the average 3 month chihuahua, though obviously they can vary widely in size. I can't actually tell if he is thin from the pictures and often what clients call "thin", I call "ideal". Many of these guys have learned that if they simply refuse their food for a few hours, they will get the much tastier human food! Joking aside, if he is actually thin, then the question is why. Could he have parasites? A congenital problem with his heart or liver? A problem with the teeth or mouth? An infection? All these things can cause decreased appetite and failure to thrive. Unfortunately all of these things will require a visit to the vet to figure out. He or she may recommend a fecal screening (come prepared with a fecal sample if possible) or bloodwork to help figure it out. Best of luck to you and Jr!
