My puppy has green nasal discharge and a cough. Is it an infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | English Bulldog | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 15 days old | 40 lbs

I just purchased my 16 week old English bull dog puppy from a pet shop and notice that she has green phlegm coming from her nose (a few times a day) and has a mucus-y cough or sounds like she is trying to Clear her throat (she does this often throughout the day). She loves to eat and play and her stool is normal. Should I be concerned? Thank you.

These are signs of an upper respiratory infection, it's very common in dogs kept together with other dogs in a small area. i would recommend taking her to your vet ASAP in order to get it checked as she will probably need a course of antibiotics in order to get better.
