My senior dog has gastritis, won't eat, losing weight. What can I do?

Pet's info: Dog | Havanese | Female | spayed | 12 years and 11 months old | 10 lbs

Molly diagnosed with gastritis by vets 1 wk ago - all of blood work ok. Only X-ray of abdomen showing thickened stomach lining- dog still not eating normally even with Rx prescribed new dog food- always was a picky eater- will be 13 yrs old tomorrow- Loosing weight- what do I do to get her to eat ?

Hi there and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to address your concern. X-rays are ok but I would recommend having an abdominal ultrasound performed to see if there is a cause that can be detected via an ultrasound. She may have a condition such as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) that requires specific treatment to manage. I would recommend having the vet recheck her and give you information on where to have the additional testing performed so that you can get closer to an answer.
