Cat sick 3 days after rabies vaccine, anesthesia. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

Mau Mau recently had a 3 year rabies vaccine done. He had to get knocked out with gas due to his temperment. Since coming home he has been tearing/crusting at his eyes, had a minor nosebleed and is lethargic. It's been three days.

He’s probably having a reaction from the vaccine and the stress and anesthesia from the visit. As long as he’s eating some and drinking I would just let him rest. He should feel better in another few days. I feed warmed wet cat food with a small amount of added water to encourage him to eat. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to help you care for Mau Mau.
