My puppy is lethargic, not eating, and growling. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My puppy is up to date on shots. He has been acting very strange today he isn't his normal hyper self. Very lazy early mid day he wouldn't even come to me when I called him, and wouldn't eat. Later in the day he finally ate some of my peanut butter sandwich and a little bit of dog food. He has NOT vomited or had diarrhea and he is drinking water but it as much as normal same with food. He also has been growling at my kids when they try to touch him. Also he looked very skinny today.

Poor pup! He could be going through a growth spurt, which may make him a little more lethargic than normal. He could also be teething, which is painful and make him a little grumpy. I would monitor him for now, and if he's still acting lethargic and out of sorts tomorrow, I would have him seen by a vet for a health check.
