Kennel cough usually resolves within a couple weeks. Since this has been happening for a month, your dog should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. Your vet can take an X-Ray to evaluate the lungs and determine the best way to treat. He might need an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory or other medications depending on the cause.

Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I'm sorry to hear about Timmy's persistent cough. Since Timmy has been dealing with his cough for a month now, I absolutely recommend having your vet take x-rays of his trachea and chest as the next step. The end result of that appointment still might be a course of antibiotics, but with such a long duration, it is worth taking x-rays to make sure everything still appears consistent with a persistent (but otherwise uncomplicated) case of kennel cough, and there isn't anything else going on that might change the treatment plan. I hope this helps.
