Dog got loose stool after cold turkey food switch. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

I think I figured out why my dog is having loose stool. I didn't do a transition from her previous food to the current food. When I switched her other food to the food she's on now I did a 10-14 day transition. She did really well and had no stool issues. This time I switched cold turkey. should I buy the food she was on previously and do a transition or just wait and see if she gets better? I figure it would still be best to not add the veggies though, because it might be to much fiber?

I would give her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days to clear up the loose stools. Then slowly start adding in the new food. That should help her stools return to normal :-)
