My dog threw up after eating trash. How can I stop his vomiting?

My dog got into the trash and he has puked 7 times. All puke has been the brown orange color of his dog food. He is about 25 pounds and a wiener dog mixed with an unknown bread. What should I do to get him to stop puking. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 24 lbs

If he is otherwise acting normal, you could withhold food for the day and see if the vomiting stops. If the vomiting stops than offer him a small amount of a bland diet, like boiled chicken and white rice. If he continues to vomit or becomes lethargic than he needs to be examined by a vet to treat the vomiting. Your vet can give him fluids to prevent dehydration and prescribe medications to control the vomiting.
