Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | neutered | 75 lbs
My adult male neutered boxer has been favoring his right front paw for about 6 days. I've been watching it and have not seen anything out of the ordinary until today, I noticed that the second toe is swollen this morning. He does not put weight on it. We live on a farm and he is often out and about sniffing and chasing things, except for lately. With this being January, there are no bees or stinging insects that I'm aware of out here. What could this be?

Poor Carl! It is very possible he has fractured the toe if there is noticeable swelling. I would recommend taking him in to your vet to have the paw x-rayed and get him on pain medication at the very least. He may also need to have the foot put on a cast until it heals properly.
