My 4-month-old puppy bites hard. How do I train her to stop?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

4 ½ month old puppy would won't stop biting. It's not just nibbling it's full on biting. She'll bite your hand or fingures if in reach. She'll bite ankles and toes as well. It's worrying because I have a 6 year old brighter so her biting needs to stop. We've tried "no bite" or "no biting" and even redirecting her to her chew toys but we've been doing this for 2 months and it doesn't seem to be changing much. What can we do?

This is not a question that can be answered in just a few sentences. Something is off-kilter in the relationship between you (and the family) and your dog. i would have her assessed by the vet first, to be certain that she is physically healthy. If she is, she will have to be addressed behaviorally. It's good that you recognize that what you've been doing so far isn't working. Time for some changes! I can help with this, but it will take several conversations back and forth. To start the process, just click on the prompt and initiate a consult.
