Why is my cat vomiting, lethargic, walking oddly, and acting strange?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Cat vomited, is walking oddly, and seems lethargic. He also defecated outside of his litter box which isn't in his usual behavior to do this. When I tried to approach him he flinched.

Poor kitty! He sounds very ill, and given his behavior, I would have him seen by a vet right away. He could have gotten into something toxic, could have a foreign body, pancreatitis, or have a severe GI illness. The vet can diagnose what is causing his symptoms, and can treat him for it. Please take him into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see him ASAP.

Sike sounds pretty bad off. He may have gotten into something, and I think he sounds sick enough to see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.
