Why is my cat's fur suddenly yellow on its neck and upper chest?

My cat has yellow fur on neck and upper chest. Has only shown up last few days. No change in food or routine. Eating and activity is normal. Thanks in advance. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 10 lbs

If the fur is just yellow than it might be staining from something he was exposed to. You could bathe him with a gentle cat shampoo and see if the yellow goes away. If his skin looks abnormal than he could have an infection or skin condition and he should be seen by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an antibiotic or a corticosteroid to treat.
