My cat's poop has bright red blood. Should I be worried? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Cleaning the litter boxes tonight and theres a fresh pile of poop with some bright red blood on it. The poop itself looks normal. Im not sure what to do or what could have caused this. Should I be worried? Any advice is appreciated.

Yes, I would be worried in that it's never normal to have blood in the feces. It could be caused by intestinal parasites, trauma to the GI tract, a foreign body, GI polyps, a foreign body, or GI tumors. I would have kitty checked out by a vet first thing in the morning for this.
