Why is my 7-month puppy suddenly peeing in her crate and squatting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 6 months and 27 days old | 50.5 lbs

My puppy is around 7 months old and she has done fairly well with potty training. Recently she has started peeing in her cage and when I go to take her out. My other dog used to do the excitement pee where only a little came out but ginger is just releasing her bladder inside. Also, when I take her for walks she squats around 10 times to pee and I don’t think anything is actually coming out. She hasn’t had an accident in about a month and a half, that’s why I’m concerned

This could be a sign of a urinary tract infection. I would recommend taking GInger to her vet right away to rule out a medical issue because if she's peeing because she's uncomfortable, all the training in the world won't help. Good luck!
