My puppy has a red eye that's spreading to the other. What's wrong?

She is nine months old and woke up with this bad red eye and now it is going into the other one. We do not know what to do, and are scrambling for any help we can get!

This appears to be conjunctivitis. I do not see any problems within the eye, but I would have to examine it closer to be sure. It's also possible that this is an infection within the eye that is causing inflammation. Conjunctivitis can be caused by a few different infections, or dust and debris in the eye. It's not an emergency, but I recommend taking River to the vet sometime in the next day or two. They will be able to better inspect the eye and provide the most appropriate treatment. For now, you can flush the eye 3-4 times a day with saline to help clean and soothe it.
