How do I stop my dog from running away when off-leash or doors open?

how to train my dog to walk off leash and dont run away from house if doors are open,,actually yesterday i have off leash him outside my house,,he just run away to different places (far away from me)..he doesn't listen to me ,he run and run...plzz help..i want that if he wants to go potty so just we open the door and he do his job and comes in...so plzz

Some dogs no matter how hard you work with them to have them go off leash, they just cannot be trusted off leash. You can start with a short leash and treats in your pocket. Let him have some lead and then call him back and him Max a treat. Little by little letting him have more freedom and see if he comes back. If it is going to work it will take time. I never truly recommend having your dog completely off leash because if something catches their eyes, ears or nose they sometimes will not come back because they are so focused on something. I always caution people when trying to do this. Otherwise, I would work with a trainer to help. Thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
