Why does my housebroken dog pee inside when visiting other homes?

Question

Nala is completely house broken and never has accidents at our house, but when we bring her to our in-laws house (they don't have any pets) or to our cousins home (they have 1 golden retriever) she poops and pees inside the house. This sometimes happens even after she went outside for a walk. Why is she doing this and how do we stop her from doing it? Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | spayed | 1 year and 11 months old | 12 lbs

Many housebroken dogs don't necessarily understand that this training applies to other places that they may visit also - so this is a fairly common problem :) I would recommend supervising her very closely when you are visiting your in-laws to prevent accidents, and taking her out frequently for potty breaks. I would also reward her with a treat when she potties outside, just like you would with a new puppy. Over time, with practice, she can learn to be housetrained at your in-laws as well.
