My young male rat that I recently purchased from a pet shop is sneezing and 'coughing'. Do I need to bring him to a vet or is it normal?

It is very common but not "normal", it is caused by a respiratory infection which is difficult to get rid off, you need to take him to the vet to get an antibiotic course. He will probably suffer from this problem again in the future and will need the same treatment again.
