My cat has clear tear duct discharge. Is it serious and what to do?

My cat is an 18 month old, American Shorthair. Eats, drinks, plays, socializes well. Over the past month a clear discharge has been running from the tear duct. Her eye is not sensitive, nor does she mind me wiping it. Once a day is all that is necessary. What's wrong, and what should I do? Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 1 year and 6 months old | 8 lbs

It's probably either an eye injury or an eye infection, you need to take her to the vet so they can check the eye under a special light and staining, then she will probably need prescription antibiotic eye drops for 1-2 weeks if it's nothing serious.
