Unfortunately, it is illegal for the experts at Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach to give the dose information for any drug without seeing an animal in person first. In addition, oral antibiotics are not used to treat ear infections in dogs. A dog's ear has a poor blood supply, and the concentrations in the blood will not be enough to treat the infection. Finally, an ear infection in a dog can also be caused by ear mites and yeast, not just bacteria, so antibiotics may not be the correct treatment for it. You will have to take Spike into the vet first thing in the morning. The vet can confirm he does have an ear infection, diagnose what is causing the infection, and can prescribe medication to treat it. Any ear infection would be examined and treated promptly, as leaving it untreated can lead to hearing loss.
