Oh dear! It would help to have a better idea of how large the croissant was and how much chocolate was in it as well as how much your dog weight, since we would need this information in order to figure out if this is a possible toxic dose or not. I can tell you that from my experience, my gut impression is that there is probably not enough actual cocoa content in a single chocolate croissant to cause any serious problems in a medium-sized dog - but without specific details, I'm afraid I can't give a more concrete answer than that. If you want to be on the safe side, you could take Littlefella to an emergency vet today - the vet there can give him an injection to induce vomiting, and also administer activated charcoal to help prevent absorption. If you opt not to do this, I would monitor him for the next 6-12 hours for any problems. Symptoms of chocolate toxicity would include restlessness or hyperactivity, a racing heart rate, muscle tremors, or seizures. If you have any concerns about how he is acting, it would be best to take him to the vet to be safe.
