With chocolate ‘the dose determines the poison’ so depending on how much he ate he may not be affected or might require intensive treatment. To make things a little more difficult, if you didn’t bake the cake yourself or if you used a mix it can be very difficult to estimate how much chocolate was in the cake. Cakes usually have cocoa powder which is very concentrated, and as little as 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder could be toxic to a 30 pound dog. If he ate the cake in the last couple of hours you could see an emergency vet to have them induce vomiting to be safe.

Unfortunately the ingredients don't list exactly how much cocoa powder is in the mix. Is it 2.3% of 100g or is it 2.3% of the 35% cocoa cream. Without knowing exactly how much she ingested I cannot say for sure if the dose was toxic. I highly recommend you call Pet Poison Helpline. They will likely be able to help you better. ( https://www.petpoisonhelpline.com ) My personal opinion is that you should take Snoopy to an emergency vet. Cocoa powder is even more dangerous than regular chocolate as it can contain as much as 50% more theobromine (the fatal ingredient). So as little as four ounces could be deadlyl. You should go immediately to the vet and not wait for symptoms to begin.

It's difficult to know how much the actual cocoa content is in this, because these cakes are made with various amounts of cocoa. It also depends on the specific size of the bites. In order for you to determine the potential for toxicity, I recommend you find out the cocoa content of the cake and use the chocolate toxicity calculator at this link: http://veterinaryclinic.com/chocolate/calc.html Signs of chocolate toxicity can be vomiting, hyper-excitability, tremors and seizures. If you notice any of these signs, then it's best to take Holly to a vet for treatment/monitoring. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done at home for this. It's best to make sure she has plenty of water and that you check her every four hours for any signs of toxicity. If she is still acting normal after 12 hours, then I would not worry about any signs of toxicity. I hope that helps and all is well with Holly.
