Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female

I came home to my cat acting very vocal and stressed there were multiple soft stool and mounds of as I was cleaning this up my partner at her which she ate I believe this prompted her to vomit more which contains the Hairball. afterwards she seemed much more relieved but very weak also the smell of her stool and vomit is incredibly foul. It has been 6 or so hours since she vomited there ball and she is relaxed now still I'm concerned can you recommend if a vet visit is immediately necessary or..

This could be due to dietary indiscretion or a simple case of gastritis. But it could also be something more serious like pancreatitis or a foreign body obstruction. You can try to feed a bland diet for a day to see if Lilly improves. However, if vomiting and diarrhea persists or if Lilly is not eating or drinking or is lethargic then I recommend you take Lilly to your veterinarian.

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am sorry Lilly isn't feeling very well. It is good to hear she is relaxing now and appears to be relieved, but I would recommend Lilly see a veterinarian soon for a check up to help better understand what the cause of her recent vomiting may be. If you notice Lilly continues to vomit today or becomes lethargic and is still just not herself, I would take her into a veterinarian today to get checked out. If she appears okay and stable for the remainder of the day with no new symptoms, it would be okay to wait until tomorrow to see her veterinarian. I hope this helps and best wishes to you and Luna!
