My dog has bloody diarrhea after medicine. When should I see a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 6 months old | 31 lbs

Lulu has had diarrhea throughout the day, but she just pooped and there was blood. I gave her an anti diarrhea medicine. Is there anything else to do?

If the next bowel movement also contains blood then it should she should be evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. If she starts vomiting, not eating, or acting lethargic then those are also signs to have her seen immediately. Encourage fluid intake as well. Best of luck and I hope she improves soon.
