Why is there a red lump in my dog's eye? Is it cherry eye?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 11 lbs

What causes my dog's eye tear duck to protude? Been this way for couple days. She is 7 years old, Jack Russel Chihuahua mix.

I presume that you are taking about a "cherry eye" which is a prolapse of the gland of the third eyelid. I am attaching a handout about it below. https://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=567 A prolapse tends to occur because the fibers holding it in place are weak. We do know know why this sometimes occurs in older dogs, but not earlier in their lives. The handout explains treatment options for you as well. Good luck!
