Can't afford a vet bill...worried A few days ago, my husky started pooping fresh blood and mucus. We started giving her antibiotics. A couple of days ago, she pooped a small pool of fresh blood. Today, she pooped diarrhea mixed with old (really dark) blood. She has a lack of appetite, but I gave her her dry food soaked in beef broth, and she ate it throughout the night last night. I also started putting probiotics in her water. The only other symptom is a slight lack of energy, but still plays

It sounds like you are doing very well so far. Bloody diarrhea or dark blood can be serious in dogs depending on the cause, so a vet visit would be best. however, I understand your concerns for that. Most probiotics you can mix in the food so you know they get all of instead of scattered through water, so I would see if she will take it in the food. I would also change to boiled chicken and rice since it is very easy to digest and won't cause any dye changes to the stool or any inflammation to the GI tract. You can also add low fat yogurt to help. Hydration is the key so keep her drinking, you may try chicken broth or pedialyte. Her energy will return once the stool gets better controlled.
