What vaccines does my 9-week-old puppy need after his 5-in-1?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered

I just recently got a puppy, it is 9 weeks old. The past owner said he already got his 5 in 1 shot. So my question is what vaccines does he still need.

The distemper/parvo combination (5 in 1) is given every 3 weeks until they are older than 16 weeks of age. Depending on your area, a lepto or lyme vaccine may be needed and those are started at 8 or 10 weeks. A rabies vaccine is required by law and given at 12-16 weeks of age.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Chucho will need to be given the 5 in 1 vaccine every 3-4 weeks until he has had 2 past 12 weeks of age. The last one is good for 1 year. When to give the rabies vaccine is local law dependent. There are optional vaccines: bordatella, leptospirosis, Lyme and influenza. He should have a stool tested, be dewormed and started on heartworm and flea and tick prevention. I hope this helps!
