Why does my dog sometimes skip meals or eat inconsistently?

My dog sometimes goes 24-36 hours without eating. Other times he eats twice a day. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 11 months old | 72 lbs

Thank for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is not uncommon necessarily. What I recommend is to try to avoid this issue is offering food at certain times of the day and if he does not eat then you take it away from him. Eventually, he will learn that he has to eat at certain times and he will likely become more regular in terms of his eating habits. This is something that is more common than we realize. As long as he is otherwise fine with a good appetite and activity level and no vomiting or diarrhea, this is likely ok. Good luck and have a good day!
