My puppy is 4 months old. Does he need more vaccines or deworming?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 months and 1 day old | 11 lbs

My puppy is 17 weeks and 6 days old. He had 5 in 1 puppy vaccine at 4,8, and 13 weeks. The vet said he needs another one now is that true? He also was dewormed 3 times already and is also on interceptor plus monthly and his stool sample was negative for parasites so does he still need another deworming?

The vaccine at four weeks was unnecessary (should start at six weeks), but the last one is very important. He will need his last puppy vaccine at 16-18 weeks. This is important, because they are most susceptible to getting infected with the diseases we vaccinate for during this period of their life. It is also the time that they are known to mount the best immunity to the vaccines. The extra deworming does seem unnecessary to me given the info you've provided. The standard for deworming is the stool test; so if it was negative, then I wouldn't deworm unless there was some other concern of her getting infected with a parasite that the interceptor doesn't cover. I hope that helps and all is well with Milo.
