Why is my dog suddenly peeing inside and not giving warning?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Coonhound - blue tick | Female | spayed | 4 years and 1 month old | 59 lbs

Hi I have a 4 year old coon hound and she very rarely has accidents in the house, but in the last few days she’s had about 4. She isn’t letting anyone know she has to go. (She usually barks at door, paces in hallway etc) any idea on why?

Sadie is a very pretty girl! When an adult dog suddenly begins having housetraining accidents without any warning, I'm very suspicious about a medical problem such as a bladder infection. I would recommend taking her to the vet tomorrow for an exam - he/she can do a urinalysis to check for any problems, and will get her started on appropriate medication to treat an infection if one is found.
